History

On March 30 (2023) our General Assembly took place at the Universidade da Beira Interior, Covilhã.

About 60 people participated in the General Assembly. The protocol of the previous assembly, the activity report of the outgoing Executive Board, the accounting report and the new candidate list for the APCP Executive Board for the biennium 2023-2025 and respective program were approved unanimously.

The new governing bodies of the Association were then elected:

On July 20 (2021) our General Assembly took place at the NOVA-FCSH, in a hybrid regime.

The 9th Political Science Congress took place on 18 to 20 April 2018 at the Minho University. The General Assembly of the APCP was held on 18 April 2018. Both general and fiscal reports were approved and the governing bodies mandate was renewed.

The 8th Political Science Congress took place on 10 to 12 March 2016 at the Social Sciences and Humanities Faculty of the NOVA University. The General Assembly of the APCP was held on 10 March 2016. Both general and fiscal reports were approved and a new Executive Committee was elected.

The 7th Political Science Congress took place on 14 to 16 April 2014 at the Economics Faculty of the Coimbra University. The General Assembly of the APCP was held on 14 April 2014. Both general and fiscal reports were approved and the governing bodies mandate was renewed.

The 6th Political Science Congress took place on 1 to 3 March 2012 at the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (ISCSP). The General Assembly of the APCP was held on 2 March 2012. Both general and fiscal reports were approved and a new Executive Committee was elected.

The 5th Political Science Congress took place on 4 to 6 March 2010 at the Aveiro University. The General Assembly of the APCP was held on 4 March 2010. Both general and fiscal reports were approved and a new Executive Committee was elected.

The 4th Political Science Congress took place on 6 and 7 March 2006 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Both general and fiscal reports were approved and the governing bodies mandate was renewed.

The 3rd Political Science Congress took place on 30 and 31 March 2006 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The 4th General Assembly of the APCP was held on 31 March 2006. Both general and fiscal reports were approved and a new Executive Committee was elected.

The 2nd Political Science Congress took place on 19 and 20 January 2004 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The 3rd General Assembly of the APCP was held on 20 January 2004. Both general and fiscal reports were approved and the governing bodies mandate was renewed.

The 2nd General Assembly of the APCP was held on 14 January 2002. Both general and fiscal reports were approved and a new Executive Committee was elected.

On 24 October 2002, APCP together with the Portuguese Assembly of the Republic, book publisher Principia and the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS), organized a conference with Professor Gianfranco Pasquino (Bologna University) with the theme: "Democratic State and Parliament Reform", held on the Assembly of the Republic's Senate Room.

The Portuguese Political Science Association was founded on 25 September 1998. The first governing bodies were the following.

The 1st Political Science Congress took place on 9 and 10 December 1999 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The President of the Executive Committee, Professor Manuel Braga da Cruz, welcomed the participants and the President of the General Assembly, Professor Adriano Moreira, was the first speaker. The President of the Assembly of the Republic, António Almeida Santos, also delivered his greetings to the Meeting.
