Section on African Studies
- Why create a Section of African Studies?
The African Studies Section (SEA) is a platform that brings together researchers working on African politics, in order to make the field of African Studies more visible not only within the APCP, but also to a wider audience. The activities of the SEA include scientific meetings, summer schools and workshops, and dissemination activities involving researchers with doctoral degrees, graduate and undergraduate students, policy makers and society in general.
- An African Studies Section for what?
The SEA aims to formalize in the APCP not only the research but also the collaborative practices with a focus on African politics, involving doctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students who are members of the association. By bringing together researchers dedicated to African politics, the section will contribute to the growth of this field of study and build and advance knowledge about the African continent in both thematic and methodological terms. The SEA also aims to organize activities on politics in Africa aimed at various types of audiences and in different formats; and to strengthen links with academic institutions in Portugal, Europe and Africa.
