ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa | March 6, 7 and 8, 2025

The XII Congress of the Portuguese Political Science Association (APCP) took place between March 6 and 8, 2025, at ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. The event was attended by around 467 people over the three days.

In total, 89 panels were held, organized around the following thematic sections:

Section 1: Portuguese Society and Politics.
Section 2: European Studies.
Section 3: Comparative Politics.
Section 4: Governance and Local Policy.
Section 5: Administration and Public Policies.
Section 6: International Relations.
Section 7: Political Theory.

In addition to the panels, the Congress featured 6 round tables.

On March 6, a session was held in honor of Nuno Monteiro, which had the special participation of Prof. William Wohlforth, professor of government in the Arts & Sciences Faculty at Dartmouth College. The closing lecture, on March 7th, was given by Prof. Olukunle Owolabi, Associate Professor of Political Science at Villanova University, USA.

During the congress, the APCP Annual Award for Best Doctoral Thesis was also presented to Catarina Leão, with an honorable mention to Mariana Carmo Duarte.

Finally, on March 7, the teams responsible for each of the APCP's thematic sections for the 2025–2027 biennium were elected and the APCP General Assembly was held. On this occasion, the Board's Activity Report for the 2021–2023 biennium was presented and approved, as well as the Fiscal Council's verdict. The new members of the APCP's governing bodies were also elected for the 2025–2027 biennium, taking office at the end of the session:
